Rab Town dates back to the 12th century when the ancient settlement from the age of Greeks and Romans was fortified. The town was sold to Venice in 1409 and much of the old architecture it now has was built under Venetian rule. The town is organized around three streets - Lower Street, Middle Street and Upper Street. One thing particularly striking in the town of Rab are it's four famous tall bell towers from the Romanesque age.In addition to sightseeing the Old Town, Rab makes a good base for exploring the entire island. A number of agencies offer boat tours around the island or you can even rent a boat or a scooter and do it all on your own.
Main hotels in the town are Hotel Imperial, in the middle of a landscaped park, and the Hotel Padova which, offers a swimming pool and sauna.
The Rab tourist office has two offices - one at Donja Ulica 2 in the town centre and the other on around the corner from the bus station.
